Summary
When the weather is hot, many people like to go swimming, which not only cools them down but also allows them to exercise. Swimming goggles are an indispensable equipment when swimming, but do you know how to choose and maintain swimming goggles? What should you do if your swimming goggles always fog up? Let me tell you some tips about swimming goggles.
How to choose the power of swimming goggles?
Swimming goggles are divided into flat swimming goggles and myopic swimming goggles. Flat swimming goggles are swimming goggles without any degree, while myopic swimming goggles are swimming goggles with myopia degree designed for myopic people. Generally speaking, the minimum degree of myopia swimming goggles is 150 degrees, and the degree is 50 degrees, 150 degrees, 200 degrees, 250 degrees, 300 degrees, and so on. Because the difference of 50 degrees in swimming goggles underwater is basically undetectable, and the degree of adjustment fluctuates from 50 degrees to 100 degrees underwater, which does not have a very obvious impact on vision, so there is no need to use 25 degrees.
1. People with pure myopia
Since there is refraction of light in the water and the distance between the swimming goggles and the eyes is closer than the frame, it is generally better to choose a myopia that is 50 to 100 degrees lower than usual (note: but do not wear a higher degree than usual, otherwise you will feel dizzy underwater) . For example, if your myopia is 500 degrees, then when choosing swimming goggles, you should choose 400 degree or 450 degree lenses. As mentioned above, the minimum power of myopia swimming goggles is 150 degrees, so if the power of your glasses is less than 150 degrees, then we recommend that you wear flat swimming goggles. If your glasses have a power of 275 degrees, we recommend that you choose 200-degree swimming goggles. However, if you require high vision correction, you can also choose a 25-degree reduction.
2. Myopic people with astigmatism
You can divide the astigmatism degree by 2, add the degree of myopia (myopia degree + 1/2 astigmatism degree), and then subtract 50 to 100 degrees accordingly. This is the ideal swimming goggle degree. For example, if your myopia is 500 degrees and your astigmatism is 100 degrees, you should choose 450 or 500 degree lenses.
3. People with different degrees of myopia in both eyes
For consumers with different degrees of myopia in the two eyes, the choice of degree for the left and right eyes should also be different. The power selection method for each eye is handled accordingly according to the above two situations.
Cleaning and maintenance tips for swimming goggles
1. After swimming, wash the swimming goggles with clean water and put them in the goggle box. The advantage of this is that it can avoid some accidental damage to the swimming goggles.
2. Do not expose it to the sun or high temperatures. Excessive temperature will destroy the anti-fog performance of the swimming goggles. Moreover, if the temperature is high, it will also cause the swimming goggles to deform and deteriorate the performance of the swimming goggles.
3. When cleaning swimming goggles, be careful not to use organic solutions, such as alcohol. These organic solutions will corrode the lenses, and the anti-fog effect of the swimming goggles will be greatly reduced or even disappear.
4. When there is grease on the surface of the swimming goggles, choose a neutral detergent. Clean it with your fingertips, rinse it with water, and then dry it in a cool place.
5. The eye mask, nose bridge, headband and other accessories of swimming goggles are generally made of silicone or plastic, so they need to be kept away from high temperature environments to avoid aging.
6. When wiping the lenses of swimming goggles, do not use anything to wipe them directly to avoid damaging the anti-fog film. When the anti-fog effect of swimming goggles is not very good, anti-fogging agent for swimming goggles can be used appropriately.
7. When the swimming goggles are wet, it is best not to put swimsuits, towels and other items together to avoid staining. In addition, after use, do not pull the goggles casually, and do not disassemble spare parts if necessary.
Solution to fogging of swimming goggles
The lenses of newly purchased swimming goggles are usually coated with an anti-fog layer, but after a period of use, the anti-fog layer is washed away, causing fog to appear on the lenses during swimming, affecting the field of vision during swimming.
In this case, you can buy a defogging agent for swimming goggles and spray or apply it on the lenses, but the defogging agent is very expensive. You can choose to use baby shampoo instead, which is very effective and cheap.
Instructions for use: Squeeze a drop of baby shampoo into the palm of your hand before swimming, dip it with the index finger of the other hand and apply it on the lenses. Rinse the goggles with water in the swimming pool while swimming. There will be no fog on the lenses during swimming, and it will not irritate the eyes. It is an excellent anti-fog substitute for swimming goggles.
1. The most direct method is to buy anti-fogging agent, apply it on the goggles, and then rinse it with clean water.
2. Apply a small amount of Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo (tear-free formula) to the swimming goggles, and then rinse with water;
3. Many friends also lick it directly with their tongue, which can also have a certain effect;
4. You can also use detergent, shower gel, and shampoo to drip into the frame. After evenly applying it, wash it off with water (if it is not washed thoroughly, it will irritate the eyes).
